High-Build Coatings

Our Halar® ECTFE, ETFE 1020™, and Kynar® PVDF coatings have excellent chemical resistance and purity over a wide range of environments that are suitable for many of our customers’ needs.

Fluoropolymers have remarkable properties, including high-purity, generally low extractables, exceptional surface smoothness, and a broad range of chemical resistance. Our coatings are applied electrostatically utilizing proprietary equipment developed by our company more than two decades ago that allows us to build the coatings thicker than the previously established industry standard of 40 mils.

parts used in pumps

Fisher Company invented thick fluoropolymer coatings, and we have applied these to 120+ mils in thickness. These weld-free and bonded monolithic linings offer significant advantages over traditional sheet linings, while enhancing performance and reducing cost. By eliminating weld joints and heat affected zones, and by providing a much smoother interior a more serviceable lining is obtained. With ETFE 1020™, surface smoothness can be >10 (Ra) microinches with a diamond stylus profilometer.

Pharmaceutical Filter

This customer's very specialized filtering equipment requires careful masking and coating to insure all mated surfaces fit back together post coating and that the polished stainless surfaces are undamaged during the blasting and coating process. Our technicians insure all exposed surfaces to the chemical process are fully protected with our ETFE 1020™. By coating the stainless steel housing and all wet components, several advantages over other coatings or electropolished stainless surfaces are realized. The most important is purity. No metal ions are leached into the media as there is no corrosion or compromise of the ETFE 1020™. The slurries and solids passing through the housing do not adhere to the surfaces, reducing clean up time between batches. The product is as pure as it can be made without contamination during this critical step in the manufacturer's process.

"Damn Nice Coatings"

When a world class chip foundry was designed to go in upstate New York, Fisher Company was contacted about supplying thirteen coated deionized water mixed and polishing beds. This project included three of the largest beds in the world to be coated.

We recommended our high-purity ETFE 1020™, 1.5mm+ thick, seamless, and bonded lining. These vessels were particularly demanding, because of their 10 foot diameter size and numerous internals—including more than 100 holes in a perforated interior plate, difficult bottom supports, and numerous clips and nozzles. These vessels were virtually impossible to sheet line by traditional methods or by any other fluoropolymer coating.

After the customer’s QA inspector measured, spark tested, and visually inspected this very challenging vessel, he concluded “a damn nice coating and tank!”
